Hi – just to explain about the message on the Members Homepage:
We currently have two systems running for BMB members. One has a fully editable account area where you can edit all your personal details and update your password, as well as your card details. The other system is far more limited and does not allow updating of card details etc.
If you see the message on the Members Homepage, it means you are still on the old system and we’d love to move you over to the new system to improve your experience on BMB. For security, to ensure your details are correct and to answer any questions your might have about BMB, we’re asking if you could please give us a call so we can quickly make the change for you. It only takes a couple of minutes.

This was set to prevent spam. However, given that this is a closed forum for members only and I don’t think we have had a single instance of spam, I have upped the limit meaning you can now include up to four links and/or images in a single post.
If you need to include more than four links or images, please split them across more than one post.

Hi Alan – good point. You will now see a new menu item at the top of the Community menu called “BMB Forum Index”. This will show you all recent activity across all the forums. Hopefully this is what you were after and will be useful for everyone. Thanks for the input.
Hi All – video playback issues are almost always to do with internet connection speed and internet traffic volume. We use Vimeo to stream videos which is very stable with a 99.9% uptime.
Most internet providers throttle bandwidth at busy times so, if you are watching in the evening when lots of your neighbours are also using their internet heavily, this can impact upon your own available bandwidth.
Broadband packages are generally subject to “contention ratios”. A contention ratio of 50:1, for example, means that 50 households are all using one broadband line. So, if lots of your neighbours are streaming video at the same time, everyone’s speed get reduced so there is at least some bandwidth to go around.
Some broadband packages offer better contention ratios than others. If your package has a high contention ratio then video playback could affected during busy times. This would be the case with any streaming service whether BMB, Netflix, BBC iPlayer or Amazon.

Hi Cathryn – this can be caused by what’s called ‘browser caching’. If you could please close your browser and restart then hopefully all will be well. Alternatively, please use a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc). You can also clear your browser cache. BMB sent an email about this last week and we will also have this information available in the help menu very soon.
Hi Christine – is this a brand new iPad purchased recently? If you go to the home screen on the iPad (not the BMB website) and click on the Settings icon and then click on ‘About’, could you give me the software version, model name and model number? That would be very helpful information to enable us to resolve this for you.

Really interesting ideas for the site – thank you for your feedback. The big red buttons were supposed to be helpful for those on touch screens but we’ve heard you loud and clear and have made some changes. Let us know your feedback on the new layout.
Regarding reversing the comment order, you do have the option to skip to the most recent comment right under the Forum Topic title. Just click on the time within the text:

Hi All – YouTube is part of Google, so to be able to participate in the YouTube chat, you need to be signed in with Google/YouTube (Google needs to know who you are to allow you to take part, otherwise anyone could join the chat).
The easiest way of doing this is to simply subscribe to the Bernard Magee Bridge YouTube Channel, which will then create your Google Account:

If you have a Gmail email account, then you already have a Google account and you can sign in with those credentials.

Hi All – just to let you know how “Remember Me” works. The site will automatically log you out after 48 hours, however, if you click “Remember Me” you will stay logged-in for 14 days before automatic log-out.
What Remember Me does not do is remember your username and password, that is a configurable function of your web browser, not the website.

We are enjoying your seminars. We have used BBO with friends on line and have created a whatsap group so that 4 of us at a time can have a voice call so can chat and feel connected. We have not used the video option as it put too much pressure on the bandwidth (and we do know what we look like! 🙂 )

I am hoping to learn bridge and will comment on graphics if that is ok. I am afraid I am a visual audio and kinesthetic learner (vak) so the last part doesn’t come into it but the graphics need to be a bit more user friendly So visually you are great to watch and listen to. However I need some help on positional layout and interaction. Maybe a cream background and different font to start with.

I at last tried this flatbread. I talked to you on BBO and ended that I would. I daren't go in shops yet and local store has very limited GF but I finally got someone to get me chick pea flour (which I have not used before). I don't think I did it right – do you use an electric whisk or a wooden spoon by hand? Also I hadn't a big enough metal pie tin so used a pyrex one. It ended up soggy but it was vaguely edible. I will have another try

Normally I would say Green Eggs and Ham but since it's autumn perhaps Brown Eggs and Ham.
Choice of book depends on size of pan. For example, my copy of the Complete Works of Shakespeare wouldn't fit but Three Men in a Boat lacks sufficient mass. Card Play Technique is physically and mentally a weighty tome and probably deserves reading once a year.

Thank you Alfie for sharing your watermelon at breakfast. My it was cold on the cruise but we saw so many exciting things. Playing bridge with Bernard was ruined by having a no cards of value all night. Alll those weeks floating around in the ocean with Mr Bridge going nowhere was so memorable. Maybe we should have a photo album of out McGee family and bridge fans?
