Hey, I was just thinking. The Namyats convention is very useful for getting around this type of hand. Strong suit (7+) Too many points for pre-empt. Bid 4C with hearts and 4D with spades partner can reply next suit up with slam interest or 4H/S or 6H/S to play. Does that throw a spanner in the works?
Yes none of the 10 points in their suit are going to make any tricks so you are only playing with 30 (Hope you have them all!)
Well I think it sounds OK. Yes you need to cue bid because you don’t have control in clubs and hearts is the first suit up from the diamond splinter in which you have a control so you can cue bid. You are hoping partner has a club control. Partner knows he has controls in clubs diamonds and spades so can just bid 4NT.
Actually I thought W had opened but from East’s side you still have controls in all suits except trumps so I would still bid 4NT then go to 6 on finding 4 key cards because you can’t be missing both the A and K of trumps. Give us the answer Julian!
To me it seems that W has controls in every suit so can go straight to 4NT to check how many key cards. When he finds 4 he bids 6H. Is that right? In my mind cue bidding wasn’t needed.

I am hoping to learn bridge and will comment on graphics if that is ok. I am afraid I am a visual audio and kinesthetic learner (vak) so the last part doesn’t come into it but the graphics need to be a bit more user friendly So visually you are great to watch and listen to. However I need some help on positional layout and interaction. Maybe a cream background and different font to start with.

I at last tried this flatbread. I talked to you on BBO and ended that I would. I daren't go in shops yet and local store has very limited GF but I finally got someone to get me chick pea flour (which I have not used before). I don't think I did it right – do you use an electric whisk or a wooden spoon by hand? Also I hadn't a big enough metal pie tin so used a pyrex one. It ended up soggy but it was vaguely edible. I will have another try

Choice of book depends on size of pan. For example, my copy of the Complete Works of Shakespeare wouldn't fit but Three Men in a Boat lacks sufficient mass. Card Play Technique is physically and mentally a weighty tome and probably deserves reading once a year.
